This Friday, April 10, we are moving pick up to the middle of the day. There will only be one pick up time for Friday, April 10 and it will be from 10 am - 11:30 am. If this does not work for you, please let your child’s teacher know. The elementary teachers will be present, so we invite you to bring your students with you in the car! Again, pick up for this Friday, April 10 will be from 10 am -11:30 am. If you need prayer, after you pick up, pull into a parking space and we will come pray over you!
I am so blessed by the courageous way you, as parents, have stepped up to come alongside your children. I know it has not been an easy thing. We, as a staff, have continued to pray for you and your children. This has been a season of us knowing each other in a different way (dogs jumping into Zoom meetings, cameras pointed in the wrong direction, talking with your mic muted) and loving each other even more! We are family. I want to encourage you and encourage your children as we have 20 days of online classes left to complete before we begin end of the year evaluations! If your student is on track, awesome! If they are behind, talk with your child’s teacher about what they need to do to catch up! We are here for you.
Clarification has come from the legislature regarding use of scholarships for March, April and May. We must be able to prove attendance and instruction. We are offering wonderful instruction! Please talk with your child’s teacher about how you can catch up in these areas to be able to utilize available scholarships.
Our vision for distance learning has not been “let’s make it through the end of the year,” but “let’s make sure students are prepared for next year.” I know that this may be different from those around you, but let’s stay strong! We are almost there!
During the next month, there may be the temptation to allow your heart to be anxious. This is a season of suffering for so many. Psalm 121:1-2 “I will lift up my eyes to the hills from whence comes my help? My help comes from the LORD who made heaven and earth.” This is a time for us to truly know how gently Jesus leads us through the valley. We can look up because we serve a risen Savior!
As we approach Resurrection Day let’s think about the words to this song, “Because He lives, I can face tomorrow. Because He lives, all fear is gone. Because I know He holds my future, my life is worth the living just because He lives.” I was sent the most beautiful video of this being sung by people kneeling in the streets in another country. (I will have it posted on the school’s FB page.) These are the days when we are deployed into our neighborhoods and communities. May there be no deserters!

School Closure Update We’ve chosen to honor the Governor’s request to close our campus and continue distance learning through the end of the school year. We understand that this is not easy for families, and we want to thank you for your kind words and support of student learning during this time! Within this executive order, he advised that Arizonans “Stay at Home.” With that said, he included specific language allowing families to travel to school to pick up assignments for completion of distance learning. It is our desire to minimize trips to the school as much as possible, and plan regular, safe and secure, work exchanges.
Work Exchange Our work exchange will continue at the main school building every Friday from 7-10am and from 4:30-5:30 pm. This will be a weekly routine for K-4 through 5th grade. Middle School and High School teachers will let parents know if there is anything to be picked up or work that needs to be turned in during work exchange times. Friday, April 10th, bring your students with you for work pick up as the teachers will be in the parking lot from 8 am - 10 am for distance greetings! It will be Great Friday and we will all celebrate the Resurrection together! Because of Jesus, we have hope!
Accomplishing the Task While working with students at home, many of you have asked about student work and how best to support your student. Please check with your child’s individual teacher for help with prioritizing tasks and creating an individual schedule that works for your family. We’re here to help!
Hard Work Pays Off! We want to thank our Warrior students, parents, and staff for making the quick transition to distance learning and not skipping a beat! Your hard work has not gone unnoticed. I’m reminded of the verse “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men.” Col 3:23 and that’s exactly what you’ve done during this transition.
Because we will not have standardized testing later this month, and we got such a quick start to distance learning, we will be able to complete new course material by early May allowing teachers to meet one on one with each student to do a final evaluation (finals for the high school). For students who have finished all work that has been assigned (watching all teaching videos, completing all written and oral assignments, finishing all tests that have been given) the last online class day will be May 1st for K4-K5 and May 6th for 1st-12th. One on one evaluations will begin on May 7th. Your child’s teacher will be scheduling time that works for you to do these evaluations. Because the K4 and K5 report card is all evaluation, those teachers have been allowed extra time.
Students will be able to drop off completed work on Friday, May 8th and 15th. May 15th will be the final day for work to be turned in online or during drop off. Teachers will be evaluating and grading the following week. Our students, and our CCCS families, have worked very hard through this time, and that hard work has not gone unnoticed. This means some students could be done with most of their work by early May, but there will likely still be many working to complete assignments. This will leave our teaching staff with enough time to complete evaluations, grade and finalize through May 15th!
End of Year Events With regards to our end of the year events including kindergarten graduation, eighth grade promotion and high school graduation, for now they have been postponed. Let’s see what happens at the end of May. There is a strong possibility that kindergarten graduation and eighth grade promotion will look different. High School graduation will happen, but exactly when will depend on the situation in our country. This will be one for the history books!
Encouragement Someone said, “the churches are empty because they have all been deployed.”Nahum 1:7 “The Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble: and He knows those who trust in Him.” During the next month remember that Jesus is good, He is the stronghold. This is our time to shine as lights to those around us. It is our time to LOVE OUT LOUD.

As we have transitioned to a distance learning environment, I want to express how humbled I am by you, your student, and our teachers for embracing this complex challenge during this unique season. The strength of the Warrior community is evident at this time. I want you to know that we, as a staff, have been praying for you daily and remain committed to providing the best Christian school experience possible.
I also want you to know how hard your child(ren)’s teachers have been working to convert their physical classrooms into digital ones. (They all will receive “highly effective” on their technology integration for the year! ) They have been putting in long hours adapting their curriculum and instruction to a new platform to continue to provide excellent academics while remaining committed to discipleship. I believe they are accomplishing this beautifully and know that you are experiencing all of this hard work coming to fruition.
Additionally, it is during times like these that the body of Christ rises up to bear one another’s burdens and comes to the rescue of those in need. If you are in a position to give to the Calvary Scholarship Fund for families in crisis, please pray about how generous you can be so that more families can be helped through this time. If you would like to give you may through FACTS SIS (donation) or by Square Trade (contact Mrs. Swearingen firstname.lastname@example.org) God WILL carry us through this season. Philippians 4:19 "And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus." He is not surprised by this, and He is ready and able to provide for us all through this time.
This is a fluid situation and I will continue to update you as we go along. This has been a time when we are reminded of what is important: Jesus, faith, family and friends. I have heard some beautiful stories of ways that families are reconnecting. Treasure this time with your children. Be present in the moment! When we look back in a year, we will see all the ways that Jesus strengthened our faith and showed us His love. I am with you during this time. All of us want to support you because we know what amazing parents you are!
Lunch You have also asked about lunches. There will be no lunch menu for April and lunches that were paid for but not used will be credited to your account.
WorkloadThank you for sharing your concerns with us directly about student workload. It often looks like a lot of work because students are now seeing what would be done in class in addition to their normal homework. We understand that this can be overwhelming. Based on your input, schoolwork will be broken down in day-to-day packets to better support student success.
Schedules Students in grades K-8 will be receiving a schedule of required online class meetings. High Schoolers will receive an updated schedule of class meeting times by the weekend. We encourage you, with your student, to schedule block times for each subject throughout the day so students have a schedule to follow. This is an excellent time for parents to share their personal time management tips with students. Of course, we encourage you to reach out to your child’s teacher to help prioritize their work.
Technology Assistance/Support Our mission is to Love God, Love People, and Love out Loud. That includes showing love to our CCCS families. We are never too busy to help, and we welcome your phone calls and emails. In order to best support student learning, if your child is doing online classes on a cell phone or multiple students are sharing one device, please let us know so we can provide additional support We want to hear from you--both the praise reports and the challenges. . (email@example.com)
Tuition We remain hopeful that the COVOID-19 crisis will be a short one, but we also understand the hardships that some in our community may experience. We want to be there for you through this. As a result, we have created opportunities for greater financial support if needed. Please refer to this document for more information Tuition collected during this time will ensure that your child’s spiritual and academic experience in uninterrupted. Many of you have already emailed your appreciation for the wonderful job CCCS has already done to help your child continue with their education. We are committed to supporting our teachers who are working beyond full-time hours to serve all our students.
Resurrection Break The week of April 6-10 there will be no meetings on Thursday, April 9th but students still need to complete their work for the week. This is a day to allow teachers to catch up on grading. No School work on Friday, April 10th because it is GREAT FRIDAY!

The Governor announced that schools will be closed through April 10th. He also said to look at this time as a marathon and not a sprint.
We will be doing a work exchange on Friday, 27, from 7 am - 10 am. During this exchange, you will bring back the packets that your child has finished, and we will give you the new packet for the week of March 30-April 3. April 3rd we will do another exchange for the following week. We ask that you remain in your vehicles during this time. If you need pick up at the west campus, please let Merri know (firstname.lastname@example.org). Check with your child’s teacher if you have questions.
This is our time to Love Out Loud. Be aware of your neighbors who may need help. Let us know if you need help.

We are praying for you and your family. “Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” Psalm 23:4 We are here for you during this time. It is difficult to not worry or be anxious, but Jesus walks with us each step of the way. We love you and want to know how we can come alongside of you. If you have needs, please reach out to me and let me know
The teachers met today and have a plan to continue your child’s education. Teachers are preparing packets for student that may be picked up Wednesday. The teachers will be keeping in contact with you and your child.
March 18th from 7 am-10 am and from 3 pm – 5:30 pm. You will pull up in your car as if you were dropping off your student. We will radio the family name, and someone will bring the packet for your children to your car. Please do not get out of your cars. Our desire is to keep social distancing up and yet give you what you need for your children.
This is a fluid situation and we know now that what makes a huge difference is social distancing, not meeting in groups of more than 10, if you are sick stay home for 14 days, if someone in your house is sick, stay home for 14 days.
“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous hand.” Isaiah 41:10
I am always blessed by those of you who reach out to others during this time of need. If you can help in any way, let me know. If you need help, let me know. Our vision continues to be Love God Love People Love Out Loud.
You can check in with our website www.cccswarriors.org each day for updates.

CCCS Family and Friends,
As we move forward through this week, here are some things to understand. Besides washing your hands, covering your coughs/sneezes and staying home when you are sick, the biggest method to slow the spread of the virus is social distancing. We would rather act now, and risk doing more than necessary, than not implement change and discover later we did not do enough.
We have decided to close the school until Friday March 27th after much prayer by the administrative team, pastoral staff and after considering input from parents, doctors, and healthcare staff. This decision was further confirmed by our Arizona Governor asking Arizona schools to remain closed through Friday March 27th. Even as a private Christian school, we want to honor the Governor’s request. This will not be a break, and you can expect student work to be available beginning Wednesday March 18th.
Our teaching staff will meet early this week to implement a plan to continue instruction during this time. We are moving forward with creating learning packets for your students because we want your students to move forward with their education. Abeka is providing an online resource for those curriculum areas we use Abeka (K4-2nd and History 3rd-8th) and Bob Jones is also making resources available. Secondary classes will facilitate online learning through Google Classroom. More information will be provided after these plans are confirmed.
This is a time when we come together as a school community. I recognize the hardship it will be to many parents to have school close, so this decision was not taken lightly. However, I do want you and your students to be safe and healthy. Please feel free to reach out to me at any time.
Psalm 131 brings our focus back to HIM.
Lord, my heart is not haughty,
Nor my eyes lofty.
Neither do I [concern myself with great matters,
Nor with things too profound for me.
Surely, I have calmed and quieted my soul,
Like a weaned child with his mother;
Like a weaned child is my soul within me.
O Israel, hope in the Lord
From this time forth and forever.” (NKJV)
“Lord, I am not proud and haughty. I don’t think myself better than others. I don’t pretend to “know it all.” I am quiet now before the Lord, just as a child who is weaned from the breast. Yes, my begging has been stilled.”O Israel, you too should quietly trust in the Lord—now, and always.” (NLT)
May our hearts be stilled before Him because our HOPE is in Him.
